Justice & Outreach

Finding strength in our diversity, we call on all our talents to worship and serve. Encountering the world’s joys and suffering, we offer ourselves as instruments of love and justice.

Edwards Church Vision Statement, 2015

MORE THAN A SANCTUARY for Sunday morning worship, Edwards Church is a vital community center in the heart of Northampton.   From this center, we reach out to neighbors near and far, and we open our doors to support others who serve.

CARE FOR OUR NEIGHBORS is a basic Christian practice.  The Outreach Committee coordinates the 10 percent of our annual budget and the uncounted volunteer hours donated to other organizations.  Members of all ages are active in local charitable organizations:Family_Volunteer_Day

  • serving food at the MANNA Soup Kitchen, Cathedral in the Night, or the Hampshire Interfaith Emergency (Cot) Shelter;
  • lending a hand at the Northampton Survival Center, the Western Mass Food Bank, the Heifer International farm or gleaning crops for Rachel’s Table; and
  • keeping regular volunteer hours at the Cooley Dickinson VNA Hospice Shop, as greeters or in other behind the scenes volunteer roles at the hospital and other area non-profits.

EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK, we open our doors to our regular building users, which include a soup kitchen, a Buddhist sangha, a parents center, and a variety of support groups.

WE FURTHER SUPPORT community resiliency by providing space for community groups to meet, hold lectures, concerts, classes, and other public and private events.
