Michael grew up as a middle child in a large Irish Catholic family, sorted out his religious identity in a Unitarian Universalist Christian church in eastern Massachusetts (yes, there are a few) and started to call the UCC his home in 1999.

He graduated from Kenyon College as a theater major, worked as a stage manager and computer programmer, and then returned to school to study law at New York Law School.  Working as a corporate lawyer for 25 years, including the years he attended Harvard Divinity School, he received his M.Div. in 2005.

Michael is married to Frances, whom he met backstage at the Santa Fe Opera, where he was a carpenter and stage hand.IMG_2320   They have three adult children and a Wheaten terrier, who has been known to follow Michael to church on occasion.IMG_2320

Michael has served two churches before Edwards, Hope Central in Jamaica Plain (Boston) and South Congregational in Centerville on Cape Cod.
